Ave Maria!

Reflection.
This is from a poem by G.K. Chesterton on the Assumption and Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Chesterton was fascinated that Our Lady, a simple creature (even if the most perfect after Christ) was made queen of the angelic host who, by nature, are technically higher than she.
Our Lady went into a strange country,
Our Lady, for she was ours
And had run on the little hills behind the houses
And pulled small flowers;
But she rose up and went into a strange country
With strange thrones and powers.
Our Lady went into a strange country
And they crowned her for a queen,
For she needed never to be stayed or questioned
But only seen;
And they were broken down under unbearable beauty
As we have been.
Our Lady wears a crown in a strange country,
The crown He gave,
But she had not forgotten to call her old companions,
To call and crave;
And to hear her calling a man might arise and thunder
On the doors of the grave.
Prayer.
I rejoice with you, O Divine Trinity, for the glory granted to Mary, assuming her body and soul to Heaven.
O Mary assumed into Heaven, luminous image of the future Church, obtain for me, a miserable sinner, to fix my gaze continuously on you, so that imitating your sublime virtues on earth, I may one day enjoy your blessed company in Heaven.
Hail Mary...
Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the universe, pray for us!
