Prayers to obtain the grace of a good death
Grant us, Lord Jesus, always to follow the example of Your holy family, that at the hour of our death Your glorious Virgin Mother with blessed Joseph may come to meet us, and so we may deserve to be received by You into Your everlasting dwelling-place.

Lord Jesus Christ, who does not will that any man should perish, and to whom petition is never made without the hope of mercy, for You did say with Your own holy and blessed lips: "All things that you ask in My name, shall be granted you"; I beg of You, O Lord, for Your holy Name's sake, to grant me at the hour of my death full consciousness and the power of speech, sincere contrition for my sins, true faith, firm hope and perfect charity, that I may be able to say to You with a clean heart: You have redeemed me, O God of truth, who are blessed for ever and ever.

Prayers for the dying
Most Merciful Jesus, lover of souls, I pray You, by the agony of Your most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Your Immaculate Mother, to wash in Your Most Precious Blood, the sinners of the world who are now in their agony, and who will die today.
Heart of Jesus, once in agony, have mercy on the dying.

May Christ Who was crucified for your sake free you from excruciating pain. May Christ Who died for you free you from the death that never ends. May Christ the Son of the living God, set you in the ever green loveliness of His Paradise, and may He, the true Shepherd recognize you as one of His own. May you see your Redeemer face to face and standing in His presence forever, may you see with joyful eyes
Truth revealed in all its fullness.

God our Father, Your power brings us to birth, Your providence guides our lives, and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence, their lives change but do not end. I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever.
